Bud and Pam McCord:

Bud and Pam returned to Brazil in July of 2005. From 1987-2005 Bud led a team of over 130 staff as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of West Hollywood, Florida and President of Hollywood Christian School.. Bud assumed the pastorate of F.B.C. after serving from 1979-1987 as a church planter in Brazil with Pam and their four children. Abide Ministries is a new and exciting ministry for Bud and Pam.

About Bud McCord

Bud was born in Miami, Florida in 1951 and has called South Florida home for most of his life. Bud began attending First Baptist Church of West Hollywood at age 10 (the same church he pastored from ’87-’05 ). A caring friend named Frank Liedkie invited Bud to church and Frank’s father, Alan Liedkie, drove the Sunday School bus that allowed Bud to attend church and finally meet and accept Jesus Christ as Savior at age 16.

Shortly after receiving Christ as Savior, a call to fulltime ministry followed and in 1969 Bud began attending Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. While attending college he met and married Pamela Ruth McCartney in 1971. Pam is the daughter of missionaries to Brazil Byron and Ruth McCartney. So began the connection to Brazil in Bud’s life.

In the 1970’s Bud and Pam served on the staff of First Baptist of West Hollywood while Bud completed his education at Baptist University of America and received training under his spiritual father Dr. Verle Ackerman. After being called to Brazil by the Lord, Bud and Pam accepted a position at Liberty University on the staff of the Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia. Bud worked as an associate to Dr. Roscoe Brewer leading a missions team called the SMITE SINGERS and teaching missions in the college.

1979-1987 were church planting years in Brazil. Bud founded the Bible Baptist Temple of Sao Jose dos Campos. This church continues to minister and bless its community.

1987-2005 have been the fulfillment of Bud’s lifelong dream to pastor his home church. On September 14th,2004 God made it clear that Bud and Pam were to return to Brazil and fully develop a new ministry called ABIDE BRAZIL.

About Pam McCord

Pam McCord was born in Ft. Worth, Texas where her father and mother were attending seminary in preparation for a life of missionary work in Brazil. Pam arrived in Brazil in 1953 at the age of 2.

During the first 32 years of Pam’s life she lived in 32 different homes as her family truly lived following Jesus from city to city to spread the Gospel. All of Pam’s life she has lived in a pastor’s home and been involved continuously in church life.

Culturally Pam is deeply rooted in the Brazilian culture and feels completely at home in the U.S. or in Brazil. Her Portuguese language skills are flawless and her ministry to Brazilian or American women is truly blessed of the Lord.

Pam and Bud have been married since 1971 and have been blessed with four children who are all now married and serving the Lord.

Ken, with his wife Kellie, live in San Francisco with their three children Kayla, Chase and Hannah. Ken is a pastor and church planter and is the founder of Heart of the City ministries.

Kevin, with his wife Suzie, live in Pembroke Pines, Florida with their son Mason. Kevin is the Administrative Pastor of The Church of the Pines and founder of CMS consulting. Suzie directs the children’s ministry of the church.

Rachel, with her husband Mark, live in Des Moines, Iowa with their three children Reese, Rylan and Micah. Mark isi owner of Global Media Group. He is a professional videographer and media specialist for ministries and secular firms.

Rebekah, with her husband John, live in South Florida where John serves as the youth pastor of the Florida Bible Church in Pembroke Pines and Rebekah teaches middle school at the University School in Davie.
